About the SAJHR Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
This ‘top-up’ bursary is open to postgraduate students pursuing an LLM degree qualification at any public university in South Africa. Eligible candidates should be engaged in research addressing constitutional, human rights, and/or justice-related issues across various fields.
Coverage Value & Selection Criteria
The SAJHR Postgraduate ‘Top-Up’ Bursary provides financial assistance up to a maximum value of R30,000, aimed at covering a portion of study-related fees. Successful applicants will be notified by 30 May 2024. Please note that only candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered.
Eligibility Requirements for the SAJHR Bursary
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Black South African citizen or permanent resident in South Africa
- Demonstrated financial need
- Recently graduated with an LLB qualification from a South African university
- Minimum overall average of 65% for LLB studies
- Registered for an LLM degree, either in the 1st or 2nd (final) year, at a public university in South Africa
- Engaged in coursework and research focusing on human rights, constitutional, and/or justice-related law Preference will be given to candidates graduating from specific universities and those with a strong academic record nearing graduation.
