About the PSSA Bursary Programmes – Fields Covered
The PSSA, through the Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE), extends bursary opportunities for aspiring pharmacists pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Pharmacy-related fields.
Undergraduate Bursary:
- For BPharm students in their 2nd year or beyond.
- Renewed annually; a fresh application is required each year.
- Criteria include financial need, academic performance, and other financial assistance received.
Postgraduate Bursary:
- Open to Master’s and Doctoral students in Pharmacy-related subjects.
- Renewed annually; applicants must reapply each year.
- Criteria: project viability, academic potential, and financial need.
Eligibility Requirements for the PSSA Bursaries
Undergraduate Bursary:
- South African citizenship.
- Matric completion.
- Full-time enrollment in a BPharm program.
- 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year students only.
- Membership in PSSA student chapter.
- Minimum 60% average at mid-year.
- Demonstrated financial need (income below R130,000 per annum).
Postgraduate Bursary:
- South African citizenship.
- Matric completion.
- Undergraduate qualification attainment.
- Full-time enrollment in a postgraduate Pharmacy program.
- Membership in PSSA student chapter.
How to Apply for the PSSA Bursaries
Undergraduate Bursary Application:
- Applications currently closed; reopening in June 2024.
Postgraduate Bursary Application:
- Download and complete the PSSA Bursary Application Form 2025.
- Specify “www.zabursaries.co.za” as the referral source.
- Submit required documents via email or fax.
Notes about the PSSA Bursaries
- Submit certified copies of documents; originals not required.
- Bursary does not cover existing loans or debts.
- Confirmation email upon application receipt.
- Shortlisted candidates contacted; no feedback implies unsuccessful application.
- Final decisions made by the Committee.

- Postgraduate: May 5, 2024.
